Alleys, street corners, parking lots. Do you know where light would help a bit more nocturnal comfort and security? this is the call by the Stockholm City to create a brighter and safer environment for Stockholm citizens and visitors.

Simple app with very nice use of re-coloring in the Flash API- a blackened map with lit markers[sic], you can place lantern(marker) where you think the light is needed most. Very impressive! Thanks @pamelafox to sharing.

I've found my 'Dream Boat'

This boat appeared in the movie Nim's Island, after quick 'lazy web' search I've stumbled across wiki answers post talking about Australian designer Walter Weeks and boat called 'Shona' built 1920's. Yet to be confirmed!

"I don't know the specific design, but it was wood, about 32', and the designer who developed that general type of boat was Colin Archer. His boats are double-enders (i.e., pointy stern), have transom-hung rudders, and are generally of medium to heavy displacement. The type was orginally developed for use as rescue boats and are famous for their performance in heavy weather"... wikianswers

Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together" project

World Community Grid has just announced the completion of the first phase of the "Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together" project.

It took only two years to complete (nearly 12,000 years of computer processing time dedicated to this project), even though the project was halted for 17 weeks due to the destruction of the University of Texas Medical Branch research facilities as a result of Hurricane Ike.

Completing this phase of the project is a significant contribution to the research of not only Dengue Fever but also Hepatitis C, West Nile, Yellow Fever and other diseases caused by the Flaviviridea family of viruses. Stop 3 Data Roaming on Android

My buddy developed new app for Android running on 3 network in Australia, way 3 have implemented the "Roaming" arrangement with Telstra, the phone actually does not detect that its "Roaming" and hence keeps using the data. Most users of the 3 mobile service in Australia who use the data services would know that if the phone starts Roaming on the Telstra network and you use the data then you get charged 50c/mb for the data and its not covered in the cap allowance.
